Types of Motivation

Types of Motivation
There are two types of motivation. First of all, it is called intrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation refers to motivation that is driven by an interest or enjoyment in the task itself, and exists within the individual rather than relying on any external pressure (Bainbridge, Carol. “Intrinsic Motivation” http://giftedkids.about.com/od/glossary/g/intrinsic.htm)
When you do something that you truly interested like studying the history of Egypt because of you would likely to learn about it not just because you want to get good grades and you actually do not like history. This is intrinsic motivation. To put it simple, you can think it as inspiration.
The second type of motivation is extrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation is the motivation which has an external stimulus; it results from our desire for something outside of us. For example, studying for exam because of good grades in order to be avoided the punishment from your parents or teachers.
